Designer Bliss Lau At Waikiki Edition
New York-based jewelry designer Bliss Lau shows her new fall/winter 2011 collection at Fashion As Art May 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waikiki EDITION Lobby Bar. Tickets are $10 and available at fashionasart.eventbrite.com.
Originally from Hawaii, Lau will be recreating her fall 2011 New York Fashion Week presentation, previously shown in February and performed by dancers from the Joffrey Ballet.
There also will be a casting and fitting for models for the event, specifically for dancers who are able to do pointe, modern or classic ballet. Casting is May 26 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Waikiki EDITION Lobby Bar. Dancers should bring pointe shoes and a bodysuit, be at least 15 years of age and at least 5-feet-1-inch in height. Long hair is a plus. No appointment is necessary. Dancers will be asked to do simple movements for the event. Costumes will be provided by 1979 vintage bikinis and Bliss Lau Jewelry. Searching For Next Miss MMA Hawaii
Fitness, personality, beauty and knowledge of the mixed martial arts world - do you have what it takes to be the next Miss MMA Hawaii? The search is on to crown the 2011 Miss MMA Hawaii at the Big Boys and MMA Hawaii Expo, The Baddest Display of Big Boys and Their Toys June 17 to 19 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall presented by NAPA Auto Parts Hawaii. Submissions are due June 8.
The contest is open to women 18 years and older. The winner will be featured on the MMA Hawaii website, MMA Hawaii Magazine and MMA Hawaii Insider Television; as well as make appearances at various MMA Hawaii events throughout the year. She also will receive cash and prizes valued at $500, including one round-trip ticket to Las Vegas with hotel accommodations for four nights, three meals per day and transportation to and from the airport. The Miss MMA Hawaii contest begins at 6 p.m. June 18 in the Exhibition Hall.
