Comparing Ahmadinejad To Hitler

Ohio Sen. George Voinovich recently drew a comparison of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Nazi Germany’s Adolf Hitler.

Regardless of attribution, the sentiments expressed by President Ahmadinejad should send a shiver down the spine of all Americans.
Why? Because Ahmadinejad and his minions are telling us exactly what their plans for the world are. To paraphrase, “If you do not convert to Islam, you are doomed.”
The pursuit of nuclear weapons by Iran under the guise of a fossil fuel alternative is dubious with Ahmadinejad’s newly forged alliance with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It’s no secret that Putin is supplying state-of-the-art missile technology and conventional arms to Iran.
Why? Oil.
Iran has forged alliances with nuclear powers Russia, North Korea and Pakistan. It has been instrumental in strengthening Hizbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine, both sworn enemies of Israel. Throw in Syria, Saudi Arabia and other regional nations opposed to Israel, and Iran is succeeding in isolating America’s one true Mid-East ally.
Consider the Ahmadinejad road show with stops in Cuba and Venezuela. Is he attempting to replicate regional divisiveness negatively affecting the United States?
Ahmadinejad poses the greatest threat to the Western world and to the United States. Yes, al Qaeda is still a formidable enemy, but the size and scope of an internationally recognized government led by a man who believes his destiny is to destroy Israel and non-Muslims is an extraordinary combination.
Our role in this scenario is to support those in our government who espouse a strong national defense and an even stronger offense when dealing with such rogue nations. We cannot afford to pull another post-Desert Storm Iraq pull-out or another get-out-when-the-going-gets-tough Somalia.
Extremists are convinced America is soft and lacking resolve. Our fractious debate regarding Iraq is another example to them. We cannot retreat from Afghanistan, Iraq or back away from Iran. To do so would be the signing of our death certificate.
